R.; Cobo,Valter J.; Melo,Gustavo A. S. de. Investigations of the distribution of marine organisms provide a better understanding of the patterns of distribution and dispersal of these animals. Extensions of the distributional limits of decapod crustaceans in Brazilian waters have been recorded steadily and gradually, but these limits still remain poorly understood. The present study provides information extending the known range of eight species of brachyuran crabs and one species of porcellanid crab. The animals were obtained by Scuba diving during a sampling program carried out near Vitória Island, Ilhabela, on the northeastern coast of the State of São Paulo (23º44'04"S-45º01'35"W) between February, 2004 and January, 2005. S. de; Veloso,Valéria G.. A survey was made of the species of Brachyura collected by "Project Algas", along the entire coast of the state of Paraíba, Brazil. This project was one of the most complete ever carried out off the coast of this state. At the 93 stations sampled by the vessel "Pesquisador IV", 60 species, in 41 genera and 15 families were collected. For each species, the geographical distribution, habitat and list of stations where it occurred are given. Also provided are a map showing the locations of all the project stations and a table with the oceanographic data of each station and the species occurring at each station. S. de. The family Rhynchocinetidae Ortmann, 1890, presently in the superfamily Nematocarcinoidea Smith, 1884 and the genus Rhynchocinetes H. Milne Edwards, 1837, has always had a complex and controversial classification. Until recently, the only species known from the Brazilian coast was Rhynchocinetes rigens Gordon, 1936, which was transferred to the genus Cinetorhynchus. Rhynchocinetes typus H. Milne Edwards, 1837, the type-species of the genus, was known only from the eastern Pacific; but in the carcinological collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, a specimen of this species collected at Ubatuba, São Paulo was found; this is the first record of this species for the Brazilian coast.
